The E-Cigarettes Success

cheap cigaronne cigarettes As electronic cigarettes become a more popular means of quitting conventional Cigaronne cigarettes, studies pointing to their efficacy are accumulating. In an online survey of nearly 3,600 subjects who were recruited from either e-cigarette-related web sites or smoking cessation sites that have nothing to do with e-cigarettes,

researchers from the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine at the University of Geneva found that a large majority of the responders who had quit reported that e-cigarettes helped them get off cigarettes.

ACSH advisor Dr. Michael Siegel, professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the Boston University School of Public Health, discusses the study results, which were published in the journal Addiction. Among e-cigarette users who used the devices to quit smoking, four out of five said they fear they would return to smoking cigarettes if the electronic nicotine delivery devices were banned.

Despite the study’s positive conclusions regarding the use of e-cigarettes as effective smoking cessation devices, some prominent public health organizations continue to rail against the alleged dangers of allowing these products on the market. But people who rely on science, not simply feelings, are frustrated by such fervent opposition, says ACSH’s Dr. Gilbert Ross. “Those who want to ban e-cigarettes and refuse to investigate the potential of harm reduction are adhering to a discredited dogma, which is frustrating to scientists such as Dr. Siegel.”

A ban on e-cigarettes is hypocritical and illogical,” adds ACSH’s Dr. Josh Bloom, “especially since Congress has allowed companies to legally sell harmful or useless (and untested) products, such as dietary supplements. But all of a sudden, regulators are worried about the safety of e-cigarettes? How about considering the known and serious risk of real cigarettes in the equation? Any minor safety concerns about e-cigarettes are dwarfed by the real risk of smoking. Why people who are supposedly acting in the interest of public health can’t grasp this simple concept is a mystery to me.”

viceroy cigarettes onlineThe e-cigarette is being marketed in the Philippines as a “safer way” to smoke or to quit smoking Viceroy, but the Health department does not endorse this as an alternative way to smoke.

The Department of Health (DOH) even claimed it will not help people to quit smoking.

Quitting has never been easy for most smokers in the Philippines. Despite the strong campaign of the Department of Health, local government units, and other private organizations, achieving a 100 percent cigarette smoke free country is still proving to be an uphill climb.

This probably attracted a Hong Kong-based business firm to invent the so-called e-cigarette.

The Health department recently issued a public advisory e-cigarettes falls into “a category of consumer products designed to deliver nicotine into the lungs after one end of a metal or plastic cylinder is placed in the mouth, like a cigarette or cigar and inhaled to draw a mixture of air and vapors from the device into the respiratory system.”

The US Food and Drugs Administration also stated the e-cigarette is not healthy and cancer-free as many people believed.

Though e-cigarette is not yet included in the anti-smoking campaign in Baguio City, the public is nevertheless warned about its effects.

E-Cigarettes Also to be Included in Smoking Ban

best discount hilton cigarettes onlineThe City Government of Davao Anti Smoking Task Force warned e-cigarette smokers that they are not exempted from the smoking ban in the city.

Dr. Domilyn Villareiz, chief of the anti-smoking task force, said that e-cigarette users are actually emulating the habits of a smoker thus should like regular Hilton cigarette smokers respect anti-smoking zones. “If we allow these vapers (e-cigarette smokers) it is like tolerating the acts of smoking,” Villareiz added.

However those caught using e-cigarettes in public places will not be penalized however they will be asked to step out and do their thing outside where it is permissible.

She said that they are working to amend the Anti-Smoking ordinance to include e-cigarettes and sisha. This is to avoid gray areas in the law. Villareiz said that the Comprehensive Anti-Smoking Ordinance was crafted in 2002 when these products were unheard of.

E-cigarette is an electronic device which tries to simulate tobacco smoking through the means of a vapor. These mists contain resemblance to the sensation, appearance of cigarette smoke. It is used primarily as a therapy to help an individual quit his cigarette habit.

Villareiz said that e-cigarettes are also not yet approved by the Food and Drug Administration as a nicotine replacement therapy. Some of these e-cigarettes contains small dose of nicotine, thus those addicted to nicotine will prefer laced e-cigarettes to satisfy the urge and will not really help in kicking out that habit.

Do E-cigarettes Help Quit Smoking?

Monday, April 18th, 2011

Do electric cigarettes really help people kick the habit for good? About 1 million smokers worldwide are hoping “e-cigarettes” will cure them of their addiction. But not everyone thinks they can live up to the claim.

Results from the first-ever U.S. study on e-cigarettes have been released.

Hollywood movies got Freda Souligny smoking at age 13. Now 81, she had a pack-a-day habit for 61 years. She stopped when emphysema led her to electric cigarettes two months ago.

“This made the transition easier. I didn’t feel this horrible withdrawal,” said Freda.

Battery-operated, they deliver nicotine vapor through an adjustable cartridge, and cost about $60 to start. Freda kicked her habit by slowly cutting the nicotine dose over several weeks.

But Virginia Commonwealth University Psychology Professor Thomas Eissenberg says e-cigarettes are misleading.

“We wanted to know if they really delivered nicotine, one of the things they’re supposed to do, if they really produce some of the same effects of a tobacco cigarette,” said Eissenberg.

A pair of studies found while real Kent cigarettes deliver nicotine, e-cigs do not – despite claiming to do so.

“Neither of them delivered nicotine, which was surprising, because that is in fact exactly what they are supposed to do,” said Eissenberg

Eissenberg says smoking an e-cigarette is just like puffing on an un-lit cigarette: no nicotine, no tobacco, nothing.

“Well, you have to tell me what changed my life,” said Freda. She doesn’t agree. “It wasn’t medication, ’cause I didn’t take medication,” she said.

The studies do say e-cigs can cut the urge to smoke by nearly half. So Freda’s mind may be tricking her body, but she doesn’t care.

“To me it’s just been miraculous,” said Freda.

Miraculous, or smoke and mirrors? It really doesn’t matter as long as you quit.

Eissenberg says e-cigs may indeed be a key tool in helping people quit standard cigarettes. Still, he’s calling for tighter government control of the products. The reason: If they don’t do what they claim to do, consumers have the right to know.
